“Our fate is within us you only need to be brave enough to see it.”, Princess Merida.
Amelia, a fiery hazel eyed dreamer came into the studio last night with her sister expecting a typical family portrait. First she walked in the door and saw her beautiful momma standing by the window in her long blue gown with a loving smile on her face. The greeting was one I am sure that Julie’s girls receive every day. Both of her families were there mom, dad, her sister Acadia and her extended family Cara and Bethany. How surprised was she to find out that today was a day where she was going to be brave? As I introduced myself and showed her what we had planned for her she broke out in the most infectious laughter. Anyone who knows Amelia knows that this sweet girl does nothing half way, the vibrant giggles that left her belly was of no surprise but filled the room with much joy. ” I’m not a girly girl.” Amelia told me. I smiled and told Amelia, ” That is okay lovey because it is not about being a girly girl but about being brave enough to try something different and celebrate you!” She looked at the dress grinned and said, “OK!” And this began our journey.
Bethany Walters Nicolino (Part Owner and Stylist at Tranquility Hair Salon & Day Spa) and Cara Kilton (Marketing Guru, Creative Diva and Community Momma of Woolwich) both long time friends of Ameila’s family had joined me for the day as we began our journey with Amelia’s mother only to finish with the ever so sweet Amelia. Bethany sat her in the stylist chair and the moment she touched her face with the makeup brush an uncontrollable giggle seeped from her lips, head tossed back and the fun had begun. Hair and Makeup done, it was time to get into the gown which I had in my couture closet. Amelia was so eager to as she said, “Let’s do it!”. All cinched in the gown, hair mussed and touchup on her cheeks, we were ready to brave the outdoors.
After placing her in the grass with blue bonnets scattered everywhere the heavens opened up and began to bring me the most scrumptious clouds and Amelia brought me her heart. It was not long after the session that I spoke with Julie, who told me that Amelia who did not like to fuss with her hair and face told her Mother that she did not want to wash her face just yet she was keeping the makeup on. And that she could not wait to come back for another session. So Whether your at a castle, the ocean or even the backyard it is kismet that your heart was brave enough to let me capture you, Miss Amelia till we meet again.
As for me I kicked up by feet called Dutchess to my side and have been feeling blessed ever since.
Till we meet again.
