May your heart be warm and happy
With the lilt of Irish laughter
Every day in every way
And forever and ever after. ~ Irish Blessings on Angelfire.com
Welcome to Irish eyes a Couture Dream Portraiture experience. It is not uncommon for me to find the historical heritage in a child and her/his family. This sweet beauty is no different. She comes from a long line of Irish decent that had sailed over from Ireland. There is no mistaking her with those beautiful green eyes, red hair, fiery temper, and those freckles. A side note about those adorable freckles, she and her mother were in the bathroom when someone asked her if her freckles were added to her adorable face. You have to imagine as we were walking down the cobblestone walkway at Hammond Castle Museum in Gloucester, Massachusetts, towards the green grass behind the castle she grabbed my hand and said to me, ” Do you want to hear something funny?” I said, “sure” Miss Olivia asked me if my freckles were just put on my face. The giggle that roared from her belly and settled in her cheeks just had me laughing as she said, ” Ummmmm….. no these are real.” Meet Miss Addie she is simply one of the most amazing littles I have ever met. Look deep into her eyes and you will find that her soul yearns to one day smell the fresh air, her feet to saunter in the rolling hills of Ireland but until then we have captured her just as she is full of wonder, delight, inquisitive nature and adorable laughter.
As she looked out past the cliff beyond the islands her imagination began to take hold. I wonder how far Ireland is from here? Is it just past the horizon? Can I take a small boat from here? How long do you think it is? As she was imagining it in her mind, I began to imagine and my answer to her would be, ” I would braid the beautiful red strands of your hair into a a rope which a swinging bridge would form hundreds of miles where you can walk past the horizon to the shores of Ireland.
It began with the sun shining warmth on our faces, then the clouds began to roll in. The ocean was tossing the water on the rocks beneath us as to get our attention. A Nor’Easter rain storm was coming, we could feel it in the air but Addie wanted to sit a spell. It was a quiet moment and for our little lass that is not always the case. Even now as I look at her my heart is forced to melt. Her innocence, the sweetness in her fingertips as she placed them on the stone as though the wall was whispering to her and only she could hear it. Her dreams are becoming my dreams each moment of the day. It is this joyful place that I surrender to each time I photograph a child for her mother as she watches from the side. I look back and see her face. The loving smiles for her daughter, a brightness in her eyes as I know that this experience is being recorded in her memory that she will one day look back upon.
The wind was blowing her hair towards her face and I could not help but share that the whispering winds was kissing her cheek. My how her smile is infectious don’t you think?
As we began to enter the courtyard of Hammond Castle venturing our way towards the drawbridge, YES they have a draw bridge, so exciting I know. I said, ” What if there were sprites in the garden? what if you heard someone calling your name? What would you do? ” She immediately stayed in the alcove looking outward with a curious look and a friendly smile. Just a peak you see for I must hide. This is all I could think of as I called to her.
She will throw a penny into the well and here she will leave her wish. The wish of a land far away to embrace what is to come and revel in the glory of it after all she is a child of the isles.
